Desaru Mini Zoo
π Kampung Sungai Kapal, Johor
An exceptionally well-organised outdoor petting zoo in Desaru, Johor. Entry includes an animal feed basket, and wash stations are positioned throughout.
Definitely one of the best pet zoo i have ever been to in Malaysia. Although the car distance there is far, the mini zoo has so much to offer to keep children entertained in so many ways. Entrance ticket includes a small basket of assorted feeds so that you can feed the diff variety of animals. Cash and tng accepted. They have a wide variety of different animals and you can tell the place is very well organised with toilets and washing bays all around the premises. The place is ventilated, well sheltered and provided plenty of resting areas for people to rest. No smelly smell at all! Most petting stations have a staff to man and they encourage and help customers to hold, carry or pet the animals. The interactions are so valuable especially with animals such as ferret and racoon. They also provide a good variety of paid activities which I love the fish catching, horse riding and the mini kitchen. Food and beverages are available only near the entrance. All the staff are friendly and easy to approach. My family stayed there for full 3 hours. Lovely mini zoo and definitely would like to visit again. I probably be less keen to go to other petting places as this by far is the best.
π Family Action Verdict
The go-to petting zoo for families across all ages, including babies. The 1.5-hour drive from JB is consistently described as worthwhile by reviewers. Toddlers thrive with the safe, close-up animal access, and older children enjoy the feeding guide and interactive elements. Arrive early and plan to stay most of the day.

βA day out with the kids at this petting zoo was absolutely worth it, and itβs easy to see why itβs so highly rated. Entry is RM20 per person (for all ages), with an optional RM20 feed basket that comes with a helpful guide on which animals can eat what. This is easily the best petting zoo weβve visited in Malaysia. The animals are clearly healthy and well cared for, which really matters in a place like this. The experience was very hands-on. We were able to pet and interact with many of the animals, and there was an impressive variety, from raccoons and capybaras to ponies, camels and plenty of birds. There are staff stationed throughout the area, so help is always nearby. They also offer extra activities like ATV rides, pony rides and a fish spa at an additional charge. Restrooms provided are so clean! They also have some stalls selling food (but do note that the priceβs slightly on the higher sideβwe paid RM4 for a stick of 4 ketam ball and other types cost us RM3 per stick). Even with the 1.5-hour drive from JB city, it was completely worth the trip. Highly recommended for families.β

βThe entry fee is affordable. Although it was a hot day, there are many fans around and misty water spray to cool yourself. Lots of adorable animals to touch and pet. The staff are very friendly too. Many seats available if you want to rest. There are free buggy service to send visitors to and fro carpark. Good if you have elderly with you. Overall, my family really enjoyed visiting the Mini Zoo and we stayed longer than expected!!β

βThis Mini Zoo is way more thoughtful and organise than any other Zoo in Malaysia. Very interactive and fun experience from the start till the end. My baby girl enjoyed so much. Every corner equipped with Toilet & hand washing area, not to forget the baby room too! Can also feel that the staffs there are all very professional & treat the animals with care & even called them by its name! Will definitely visit again!β
