GSC IOI City Mall
📍 Ioi Resort, Selangor
GSC IOI City Mall's Play+ format puts a physical playground inside and outside the cinema hall, letting kids burn energy before and during screenings. Multiple seating configs including twin seats suit different family setups.
Just had a blast at GSC Premier Cinema at IOI East watching the Expert. It was awesome! The place is super comfy, like sitting on clouds. Watching the movie feels like a VIP experience. Plus, no long queues, just straight in, feeling like a boss. You could sit at the lounge, and while waiting, you could play snooker and dart. Only downside is the ticket price is a bit steep, but totally worth it for the top-notch experience. Definitely going back for more!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with toddlers and primary-school-age kids who struggle to sit remains for a full film. Play+ gives them structured play time before the movie starts, and the in-hall playground means restless moments don't derail the experience. Older kids and parents do well in Premier or standard halls.

“Play+ is the best cinema to bring kids. Brought my kids several times and they had the best time! We bought tickets prior and comes around 1.5 hours early for the kids to play at the playground outside the hall. While watching the movie, they can also enjoyed playground inside the cinema hall.”

“GSC IOI City Mall is a good, affordable option for catching a movie. Tickets and concessions are well-priced, the staff attentive, and the theaters clean and comfortable. While some screens and kiosks show signs of age, and not every snack hits the mark, the experience is solid enough—especially considering the price. Not exceptional, but certainly serviceable. Full Review Going to the movies at GSC IOI City Mall is a reminder that you don’t always need premium, luxury formats to enjoy a film. What this cinema offers is straightforward, accessible, and reasonably priced entertainment—something that’s becoming rarer in the moviegoing world. First and foremost, the pricing is a standout feature. Tickets here are a fraction of the cost of American theaters, and even when compared to more affordable Asian markets, GSC fares quite well. In fact, it’s cheaper than Thailand and roughly on par with Indonesian cinemas. For families or regular moviegoers, this pricing makes GSC a compelling option without sacrificing too much in terms of quality. Subtitles and accessibility are also handled impressively. Hollywood films are screened in English with Malay and Mandarin subtitles, ensuring broad accessibility for the local audience. Japanese films even include a third subtitle option in English—yes, it can clutter the screen slightly, but it’s not a dealbreaker, and it’s a thoughtful touch for inclusivity. Inside, the theaters themselves are well-kept and comfortable. There are no off-putting smells, the seats are cushioned and clean, and staff regularly check on the condition of the auditoriums. One nice feature is that help is available right outside the theater doors, meaning you don’t need to trek back to the main lobby if an issue arises. This small detail goes a long way in showing that operations here are customer-focused. Purchasing tickets and snacks is streamlined through a kiosk-only system. It’s convenient and modern, though not without hiccups—several kiosks tend to be “out of service,” which can cause delays during busy periods. Still, when they’re functional, the process is efficient and avoids the slow-moving lines of traditional counters. Concessions open as early as the first screening of the day, unlike some cinemas where you’re left waiting until midday (or later) before you can grab food. The snack selection is decent, if a little quirky. The triangle-shaped chicken nuggets are surprisingly crispy and tasty, even if the chicken mixture leans more on filler than premium cuts. A word of caution, though: avoid the “chikky” option—it comes with a meager portion of fries and popcorn chicken, hardly worth the price. Instead, go for the snack combos that give you better value with popcorn, nuggets, or fries. The sausages are reminiscent of Vienna sausages—not gourmet by any means, but edible enough and certainly not the worst concession option I’ve had. On the technical side, the screens occasionally show their age, with some scuffing or wear noticeable during brighter scenes. Sound systems are usually fine, though in one screening the audio was overly loud at the start, thankfully adjusted partway through the film. These inconsistencies don’t ruin the experience, but they remind you that this is not a flagship, top-of-the-line cinema. All in all, GSC IOI City Mall delivers a serviceable moviegoing experience. For what you pay, you get clean theaters, reasonable concessions, decent service, and a reliable place to enjoy a film. Final Verdict 3 out of 5 stars. Not extraordinary, but not bad either—GSC IOI City Mall is a decent theater for casual movie nights, especially if budget and accessibility are higher priorities for your party.”
