Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing
📍 Bukit Gasing, Selangor
Secondary forest reserve with trails ranging from 3–6km depending on route, two main entrances (Bukit Gasing and Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi), and steep sections that challenge fit adults.
Bukit Gasing is such a hidden gem for nature lovers, especially if you’re living the fast-paced city life. I visited on a weekend after seeing lots of cars parked nearby — curiosity paid off! The trail has that classic old dirt-road vibe, but everything is surprisingly well maintained, including the toilet (small fee applies). I love how clean the area is, and the lush greenery makes it perfect for a quick nature recharge. There’s even a small river near the camping site and a cool suspension bridge that adds a bit of adventure to the hike. If you’re not up for a tough climb, the lower path is nicely paved for a gentler walk. Parking is tough though — better to carpool or park at the nearby mosque if you’re lucky. Great spot for beginners, casual hikers, and anyone needing a dose of fresh air!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for active families with children old enough to manage 3–6km of uneven, sometimes steep terrain. The two entrances let families choose difficulty — Bukit Gasing for a gentler start, Taman Rimba for a more demanding route. Prams are not viable. Families visiting after rainfall need proper grip footwear; trail sections become genuinely slippery.

“A hiking trail nestled between PJ ( hutan pendidikan Bukit gasing )& KL ( Taman Rimba, Pantai Dalam/ Hill park) .. A secondary forest turned from a former rubber plantation. Trail can range from 3-6 km depending on how you walk and climb your way. Tips 1. Hiking shoes, hiking stick 2. Download offline map like All trails or just follow some season trekker 3. Trail routes can muddy and slippery 4. Admission is free 5. If you feel tired after entering PJ side , can exit KL side and grab to PJ side 😅 6. No pets allowed 7. Nearest restaurant.- lotus restaurant Gasing ..around 500m downhill”

“Actually, there are two different main entrance, one from Pendidikan Hutan Bukit Gasing and another is start from Tmn Rimba Bukit Kerinchi, if u love hiking u can try both. Both are not easy to get a parking if u get there on morning time, prefer avoid the peak hour and get there after 10am. Don't hiking if raining, it's quite dangerous. Recommend to bring hiking poles and enjoy the fun of hiking without knee pain after that.”

“Good getaway from hustle and bustle of KL & PJ cities folks. Suitable for my St people as the the hill (bukit) is steep. Easy walk.”

Overview
Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing sits between Petaling Jaya and KL, covering a former rubber plantation converted to secondary forest. Trail length varies from 3–6km depending on which entrance you use and how far you push into the network. Lower sections near the Bukit Gasing entrance are more gradual; the Taman Rimba side accesses steeper climbs. Muddy conditions after rain make sections slippery. Littering remains a persistent issue with regular visitor calls to pack out rubbish.
