Good place to find another spot for picnic, jogging,… It’s in the heart of Kepong area, 30min driving from KL. For foreigner, entrance fee is 5RM/person, and it’s worth it the view, botanic, and greeny space. Very spacious, variety of trees, lakes, small animals,… also have a refresh place for you if you want to take short breaks. It has a small cafe inside, very cozy, natural and good for the break during hot weather, but the Soda is just so so, you can try drink coffee there.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children who enjoy nature walks, plant identification, and outdoor exploration without a structured itinerary. Grandparents and elderly relatives handle the terrain well given the relatively flat main paths. Arrive before — reviewers are unanimous that midday heat in the open stretches is extreme.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Arrive before — heat in exposed areas becomes intense after that and multiple reviewers flag it as a hard limit
Car entry and per-person entry are charged separately — check current rates at the gate
🎟️Bring water and sun protection for open stretches — shaded benches by the lake provide relief
🚗Monkeys are present on some trails — do not feed them and keep food sealed and out of sight

It's a beautiful and worthwhile place to visit. There are a large variety of plants to see, some of the plants also got their own info plaque stuck in the ground so you can see their species name. Also got plenty of areas to visit. I recommend visiting before 12pm because it can get very hot. The parking here is also very abundant. RM3 per adult for entrance.

This is a great place to visit and work out. However, it can get extremely hot after 10 am. I really enjoy the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Everything is well-maintained except for the toilets, which could be improved. If you drive a car, you’ll have to pay RM6 to enter.

Rm1 per entry (without parking). Came around 820am, park already had a lot of people but not surprising for a Sunday morning. Lots of shaded areas, but also lots of exposed ones - grateful there were benches in the shade, to sit by the lake! Overall nice experience, just really does get hot past 9am, though the skywalk tower guy did say the day I went is hotter than usual 🌞

Overview

FRIM Kepong Botanic Gardens covers a genuinely large tropical reserve 30 minutes from central KL. Trails wind through diverse plantings with species labels in the ground, past lakes and shaded rest areas. Benches by the lake offer good wildlife-watching spots. Toilets are on-site and have been criticised for condition. A refreshment area is available inside the reserve. Monkeys are present and can be aggressive on some trails — avoid feeding them.
