Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5
đ Batu Gajah, Perak
Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5 lets families climb the preserved industrial dredge using safety harnesses, with panoramic third-floor views and a hanging bridge maze for active kids.
The price might not be cheap but the experience was memorable that it gets a 5 star from me.. You are allowed to climb up the dredge and experience how it was to work there. The 3rd floor view is amazing. There is safety harness provided. Required online purchase. We bought ours on arrival. It was fast and smooth. We arrived on Monday 9am. No crowd. Just us. There is a A&W outlet right at the entrance at the time of writing this. The ticket includes entrance into the Maze. To get there you need to walk on narrow hanging bridge. It is quite a bit of walking on the bridge hanging from tree to tree. That is also another adventure. The maze itself is nothing much. This place is not for those who scared of height and have mobility issues.
đ Family Action Verdict
Excellent for families with school-age children who enjoy history combined with physical adventure. The harness climb is the centrepiece â thrilling for kids comfortable with heights, unsuitable for anyone with height anxiety or mobility limitations. The outdoor dredge viewing is free if you want to assess before committing to the full tour.

âA Must-Visit Heritage Site in Batu Gajah "I visited Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5 yesterday and it was a great experience! This historical site is well-maintained and provides a fascinating look into Malaysia's tin mining past. The guided tour inside the dredge is highly informative and essential if you want to understand how this massive 'floating factory' once operated. A few things to keep in mind for future visitors: Booking: You must purchase your tickets online in advance to secure a slot for the guided interior tour. Facilities: The site is convenient for families, with clean toilets available and ample parking. Museum: There is a small museum (gallery) on-site that showcases historical tools and educational content about the Kinta Valley's mining boom. It is a nice, peaceful place that is both educational and visually impressive. Highly recommended for history buffs or anyone looking for a unique stop near Ipoh." Quick Tips for Visitors (2026) Hours: Open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Tour Times: Guided tours typically run at set intervals (e.g., 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, etc.) and last about 45 to 60 minutes. Additional Activities: While there, you can also explore the TT5 Maze Park or try traditional tin panning (mendulang) for an extra fee.â
