Ethnology Of The Malay World Museum
π Perdana Botanical Gardens, Kuala Lumpur
A small indoor museum in Perdana Botanical Gardens showcasing Malay world ethnology with traditional games including congkak. Combined ticket available with the adjacent Orang Asli Craft Museum.
I'm glad that I visited during international museum day which is free of charge as the organiser arranged many activities for family and kids participate, such as colouring batik and DIY wayang kulit. Adult was having fun as we could play along traditional games, such as congkak, chess game. There was a quiz contest for us to participate and understanding more on history and the culture of malay. it is worth paying for the ticket and visit. As I surveyed, the ticket for malaysia is reasonable and affordable. Hope that museum will organise more activities like this in future.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for school-age children with an interest in Malaysian cultural history. The hands-on traditional games engage children who find static exhibits less interesting. The compact size prevents museum fatigue. Pairing with the Orang Asli Craft Museum next door and the National Museum delivers a full cultural morning for curious families.

βSmall but very interesting museum on craft and life of ingenious Malaysian tribes. Price is low, 5 R for s foreigner and there are only several rooms but itβs well worth visit - a lot of different masks, statues and mundane everyday tools.β

βGreat little museum next door to Orang Asli craft museum. Combined tickets 5MYR. Was empty when we visited. See Orang Asli for separate entry. Both museums are next door to National Museum.β

βThe ticket for Malaysian adults is RM2 for the orang asli & kebudayaan museum and RM2 also for the main museum. While kids can enter for free. So, definitely a must visit place.β
