Ghost Museum Melaka
📍 Kampung Dua, Melaka
An indoor ghost museum in Melaka with exhibits covering Malay, Chinese, and Western folklore. Genuinely eerie rather than jump-scare based. Visit runs 30–45 minutes — pair it with other Melaka attractions nearby.
We visited the Ghost Museum on a Friday around 11 am and were the only visitors there, which made the experience even better as we could enjoy everything without crowds. Some of the setups were genuinely scary. One moment that stood out was when a ghost’s head suddenly lifted and startled us. The museum features ghosts and stories from various cultures, making it both enjoyable and educational at the same time. Our only dissatisfaction was that the visit ended too quickly, mainly because we were having so much fun. We wish the museum were larger, as we would have happily spent more time exploring it.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children curious about folklore and cultural ghost traditions across Malay, Chinese, and Western lore. The experience is genuinely eerie and dark in sections — not suited to very young children or those scared by dim environments. Solo or small group visits amplify the atmosphere considerably.

“Spectacular experience. The staff were friendly, warning signs are adequate. And they made sure it's a museum instead of a haunted house. Safe for older people and younger kids. Though when you're the only visitor there, it can get eerie. The haunted house prepared some costumes for trying out matching the vibe and photo session. There is even explanation of the ghosts and beings explained at the side with folklore and teachings. They mentioned they are expanding in the future. Will visit again once they expanded. Highly recommended!”

“I had a great experience here. I went to the Penang one before and I would say that both places offer different unique experiences from each other. But the Melaka one is scarier than Penang cause it’s very dark in there. However, Penang one has a lot more varieties. They don’t have nearby parking other than the paid parking lot which cost RM6 per entry. So, for those who don’t wanna pay the expensive paid parking, you might need to park a little further away and walk to this museum.”

“Not as scary as I thought it would be since there were no jumpscares BUT the vibes were creepy and there was some ghostly energy in some of the rooms. You can click pics with the ghosts and there are props provided to pose with, I think the experience is based on the vibes that you bring there. You can also avail a student discount if you are one, so bring your ID 🪪”

Overview
Ghost Museum Melaka works through atmosphere and cultural depth rather than sudden scares — rooms carry a creepy energy through lighting, props, and spirit lore from multiple traditions. A ghost's head lifting mid-visit surprised one group who visited solo on a weekday. Photo props are available in some rooms. The 30–45 minute format makes it a natural add-on to a Melaka day trip rather than a standalone destination.
