1 / 3Cheng Ho Cultural Museum Melaka
π Melaka, Melaka
One of Melaka's most impressive indoor museums, best for school-age kids and up with an interest in history and exploration. Families love the storytelling, artifacts, and multilingual exhibits on Cheng Ho's voyages.
I recently visited this museum and it truly felt like stepping into a place full of hidden treasures. The collection is impressive, featuring a wide range of artifacts that showcase rich history and fascinating stories from different eras. Each section is thoughtfully arranged, making it easy to explore and learn at your own pace. However, while the exhibits themselves are amazing, some areas could benefit from better maintenance. A few displays look slightly worn out, and improving the upkeep would definitely enhance the overall experience. Despite that, the museum remains a great place to spend a few hours for anyone who enjoys culture and history. The environment inside is clean, comfortable, and well-organized, making the visit pleasant and relaxing. Overall, itβs an interesting and enriching experience, and with a little more attention to maintenance, it has the potential to be truly outstanding.
π Family Action Verdict
This museum is well-suited to families with school-age children and older, particularly those with an interest in history, exploration, and Chinese maritime heritage. The multilingual intro video and clearly labelled exhibits make it accessible and engaging for curious kids and adults alike.

β6 May 2025- This was one of the greatest highlight of our 2025 Melaka trip. This museum is such a must-visit, as it teaches you about the history of Cheng Ho or ιεδΈθ₯Ώζ΄, the Chinese high ranking official that explored around the world out of China via the China sea and eventually landed in Malacca, Malaysia. Museum includes the ship and the formation as well as details of his expedition.β

βOne of the best museums I have been to in recent times. Impressive to see the armada. It is quite long inside (stretched back to jonker street) and has many treasures with English explanations. Will worth the entry fee. Came on Monday and it was nice and quiet. Tip: start with the 5 minute video as you enter to set the sceneβ

βMust visit when in Melaka. Story about Cheng Ho, Chinese seafarer who visited Melaka several times. Entrance foreign adult 15RM. Donβt miss out on the into video which plays every 15 minutes, itβs in three languages (English, Malay, Chinese) narrated in one and subtitles in the other two, so you donβt have to wait long. Gave me some new perspectives which arenβt found in other local museums.β
