“I booked a guided rock climbing session with Ventrex (top rope and lead), and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Communication with Kak Awa was smooth and straightforward. I shared our climbing experience and objectives beforehand, and everything was clearly understood and well organised. We arrived at 9 AM and all the gear was already set up. Because our experience had been communicated in advance, the guide went straight into climbing without a formal safety briefing—which was perfect for us and allowed us to maximise climbing time. That said, complete beginners might prefer a more detailed intro. We climbed for a solid 4 hours and completed 5 routes total with two climbers. A personal highlight was getting to lead a 6B route, which is beyond my usual grade. Challenging, rewarding, and well supported throughout. Safety and hospitality were handled really well. Two interns assisted the guide, stayed attentive the whole time, and helped with photos and videos. Small but thoughtful details stood out—offering to transport our gear between locations using their cart, and proactively offering tape or band-aids for minor scrapes. Overall, this was a professional, efficient, and well-run guided session that clearly caters well to climbers with some experience who want to make the most of their day on the rock. Definitely planning to visit Gunung Lang again in the future.”
