Komtar is a major transport hub in Penang, serving as the main station for nearly all city buses. Built in the 1980s, it quickly became an iconic landmark in George Town. Besides being a key transit point, Komtar also houses The Top, an indoor attraction park, making it a hub for both travel and leisure in the city.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best suited for families with young children under 10 who respond well to dinosaur themes and elevated views. The skywalk is the headline draw for older children and adults. Manage expectations on polish — the complex is dated and the attractions feel below their price point. Treat it as a one-visit curiosity rather than a repeat destination.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Budget separate entry for each attraction as they are not bundled
Wayfinding to the top floors is poor — follow signs for 'The Top' from the main Komtar entrance
🎟️The rooftop restaurant provides city views without paying for attraction entry
🚗Allow extra travel time to locate the correct lifts and floors

Actually they have a very good concept of a theme park.. but unfortunately the building, shopping center and theme parks are not well managed, the direction signs are not helpful, resulting in very few visitors, Some of the staff are not helpful and not friendly. The ticket fares are also not cheap, they charge for everything, and are expensive too. The attractions are not fun enough nor interesting enough. They should make a 180y degree of change to improve better and attract more international visitors to live up the business.

I wouldn't exactly call this a must come tourist attraction (strictly my opinion). Possibly growing up children would like this place which houses a dinosaur theme park. For the brave hearts, go to the Top and try their skywalk with a scenic view of the island.

Just go to the restaurant and you’ll get to see the amazing view without paying the high prices for mediocre activities. The shopping center doesn’t have a lot of nice stores, just struggling little kiosks. There is a decent cafe though.

Overview

Komtar Walk sits at the top of Penang's landmark Komtar tower, offering genuine panoramic views of George Town and the strait. Attractions include a glass skywalk and a dinosaur-themed indoor zone that appeals to younger children. Each activity requires separate purchase and pricing is steep relative to what's delivered. Signage throughout the complex is minimal — allow extra time to navigate. The surrounding mall floors have sparse retail and do include a café.
