UR-MU @ Toffee, Raja Chulan
📍 City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
UR-MU at Toffee occupies floors 5–7 of an office tower near Chinatown, displaying modern Malaysian paintings, drawings, and sculptures from the 1990s onward. Rooftop on floor 7 offers near-360° city views.
Outstanding, and varied, exhibits starting on 6th floor…down to 5th floor, and then up to the 7th floor rooftop, where you will experience a near-360 view of KL. We were the only visitors during our visit, allowing us to sit (the museum offers more places to sit than any museum of this size we’ve been to) and relax and enjoy the imagery. Many different mediums…great (sometimes terrifying) sculptures. The photo series by Ahmad Fuad Osman where he inserted himself in my historical moments was both poignant and hilarious. Highly recommended (especially on a rainy day) and will return!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children and teens who appreciate contemporary Malaysian art and want a quiet, unhurried cultural experience in central KL. The rooftop is a genuine highlight and worth the visit alone. Young children may find some of the sculptural works unsettling — this suits thoughtful older kids more than toddlers.

“A must visit! Very authentic, local art museum experience in the heart of KL. I went an hour before closing, I was the only one. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also provided a 10% discount to see the other UR-MU sites (there are 3 in total). I would put aside 45 mins of your day to see this. You can also visit the Sushi exhibition on the floors below. I was told there is a rooftop view accessible, I didn’t have time to go but I would add that to your itinerary also. Ticket was 20 ringgit, paid via contactless at the reception.”

“A cool location on the 5th and 6th floors of an office tower in downtown Kuala Lumpur, near Chinatown. The art on display—paintings, drawings, and sculptures—is modern, powerful, and dates from the 1990s and later. The exhibition spaces are easily accessible by elevator. The reception is very friendly, the art is well-lit, and the rooms are air-conditioned. A visit is very comfortable. Admission is 10 MYR per person.”

They have nice and a lots of cool, pretty art by the artist. Some of it is like old painting but still good and they take care of the art. The place also clean.”

Overview
UR-MU features genuine contemporary Malaysian art — paintings, drawings, and powerful modern sculptures — across air-conditioned galleries on floors 5 and 6, with a rooftop viewing level on floor 7. The museum is frequently visited by only a handful of people at a time, creating an unusually intimate experience. Ample seating throughout makes extended browsing comfortable. Some sculptures are intense and have startled younger children.
