A must visit in Ipoh. This place is a very informative museum about Ipoh's Tin mining history and way of life in the 1950s. There is also a section on Baba Nyonya/Straits Chinese which was more informative than some places in Penang and Melaka! The interior is well-preserved and exhibitions are thoughtfully curated. I reccomend listening to the audio guide as it gives a little more information than the plaque cards dotted around the museum. Staff are really lovely too! Entrance fees were RM15 for the audio guided tour - it was worth every penny.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with school-age children who enjoy structured learning about local history and culture. The audio guide format works well for children who can focus through a museum visit. Younger children may find the pace too static, so this pairs well with an outdoor activity in Ipoh's heritage area for a balanced day out.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Entry is RM15 and includes the audio guide β€” use it, it adds substantial detail
⏰The souvenir shop stocks unique items made by social organisations at reasonable prices
🎟️Exhibits cover both tin mining history and Baba Nyonya culture β€” more depth than many comparable sites
πŸš—Located in Ipoh's heritage quarter β€” easy to combine with nearby street art and shophouse cafes
