We came across this spot while exploring Concubine Lane (Er Nai Xiang) at night, only to find it closed. We returned the next morning for brunch while wandering the area. The restored three-story building is stunning, and there is even a small museum gallery showcasing the history of OldTown White Coffee, which made the visit surprisingly interesting even for non-coffee drinkers like us. The space is clean, thoughtfully decorated, and filled with art pieces in almost every corner. We tried the kaya butter toast and a few drinks, and both were enjoyable. We did not sample any of the main dishes, so we cannot comment on those. Overall, it is a lovely spot to escape the heat, relax with an iced drink, and enjoy some local favorites while taking in the arty vibe.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with school-age children on an Ipoh heritage trail who want a comfortable air-conditioned break with cultural context. The gallery adds genuine educational value for curious kids, and the cafe format means parents get a proper meal.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸš—The restored building architecture is worth photographing β€” allow time to explore all three floors

β€œVisited the Old Town White Coffee Experience Centre and really enjoyed the heritage gallery upstairs. It’s thoughtfully laid out and gives a clear, engaging walkthrough of Ipoh’s kopi cultureβ€”from bean sourcing and roasting to traditional kopitiam brewing methods. The miniature kopitiam and vintage brewing station were especially nostalgic and well done, and the sustainability displays were a nice touch. Downstairs, the drinks were refreshingβ€”iced coffee was smooth, and the lemonade was a great thirst quencher, right amount of lemon taste, sweetened and fizzy. The soft-boiled eggs were classic. A solid stop for tourists and coffee lovers who want more than just a quick cup, but also a taste of heritage.”

β€œI had a great experience at White Coffee in downtown Ipoh. The coffee was excellent, rich, smooth, and full of flavor. You can really taste why Ipoh is famous for its white coffee. The food was also very delicious and fresh. Overall, a great place to stop for good coffee and tasty food if you’re in the area.”
