1 / 3Time Tunnel Ipoh Old Town
📍 Ipoh, Perak
A compact indoor museum recreating Malaysian daily life from the 1950s to the 1990s using authentic period items, thoughtful lighting, and room-by-room displays. Includes a simple quiz and spot-the-object activity.
I was impressed by how thoughtfully the lighting and layout were designed to recreate the atmosphere of Malaysia from the 1950s to the 1990s. Every section feels carefully planned and immersive. Kudos to the young Malay gentleman at the ticket counter who did an excellent job explaining the museum’s content and sharing bits of history with me. I truly enjoyed my time here and am already thinking of bringing my parents along for a visit.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with school-age children and parents or grandparents who lived through the era — the generational contrast is part of the appeal. The quiz and spot-the-object game give children a concrete task to stay engaged.

“Far better than we expected. If you're oc and age that is interested in mid to late 20th social history, then this is for you. Full of information and objects that will provide nostalgia or make you think. Plus, If you want to take part, there's a (simple) quiz, and all for only 8MR. In the same building there are several artisan vendors. We bought from two of them and had a great time chatting and looking around. Well worth a visit”

“Very fun and interesting time capsule museum from the 50s to 90s period. Various rooms from those times are displayed with authentic items. The fun little "spot the object" game they provide was a nice touch! Short and sweet. Worth the 8rm entry fee.”

“It is small museum but very unique antique collection of things. Very nostalgic feeling I had. I just loved every bit of my stay in Cameron Highlands. A good place to take your children and show them (present generation), how simple people were living in the past.”

Overview
Time Tunnel Ipoh Old Town recreates decades of Malaysian domestic and social life through carefully arranged authentic artefacts across themed rooms. Lighting and layout are designed to reinforce the period atmosphere. A spot-the-object game sheet adds a structured activity layer for children. The same building houses artisan vendors worth browsing after. One reviewer noted a small scratch from exposed cable — watch surroundings in tighter display sections.
