Ho Yan Hor Museum
π Ipoh, Perak
A free museum in Ipoh dedicated to the Ho Yan Hor herbal tea legacy, with 15-minute English-language guided tours capped at 20 people per session and complimentary tasting of five herbal blends.
I recently visited the Ho Yan Hor Museum right near Concubine Lane in Ipoh, and it was such a great experience! Even though the entrance is free, I had to write my name down for a booking slot before I could head inside. I found the museum really interesting because it shows the history of Chinese medicine and the story of how the founder promoted his products. It was cool to see the step-by-step process of how they used to weigh the herbs and keep everything organized. To top it all off, they gave me a chance to taste their herbal tea. I got to see and try varieties like their Original, Gold, Night, and Ginger blends. If youβre in Ipoh, I highly recommend visiting this part of our local history!!!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged eight and up who can engage with cultural storytelling and heritage content. The 15-minute format is short enough to hold attention, and the tea tasting gives kids a concrete sensory takeaway.

βOnly 20 pax at a time so if you walk in , high likely you have to wait for quite a while. Better call in to book or something Anyway we were lucky with our visit. Definitely the staffs are all well trained there. Polite and knowledgeable. Gave us a good impression from the start. The museum is the actual building owned by the founder which was so damn cool. I really admire how they market the product in the old days and even now no wonder this brand is well known. My family and I had a good understanding of HYH in the span of 15mins. We were served with several teas towards the end with no obligation to buy. We bought because we were sold through the whole museum visit lolβ

βHo Yan Hor Museum is a must-visit place in Ipoh, especially since admission is free. The guided tour is conducted in English and very informative, so itβs recommended to book in advance, particularly on weekends or public holidays as each session is limited to 20 people. If you walk in without a booking, the waiting time can be quite long. The staff, especially Chloe, are very friendly and enthusiastic. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy free tasting of five types of herbal tea, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.β

βThere's always a queue here, we left our name and go for a walk around the tourist area, came back as promised after 1 hour and allowed entry. The whole museum tour is more to self experience and reading the info board regarding the history of this famous herbal tea. It's an honour to be in the original residence of the founder and look back at his achievements. Kudos to the team to setup this nice memorial.β
